# Palantir Surges! Commercial Revenue Soars 149% Above Expectations, Full-Year Revenue Guidance Raised to $8.16 Billion | Earnings Insight

After announcing its second-quarter results, Palantir Technologies significantly raised its full-year revenue and profit forecasts. Strong demand from commercial clients exceeded market expectations, with CEO Alex Karp describing the quarter's performance as "otherworldly."

Palantir raised its full-year revenue guidance to a range of $8.150 billion to $8.158 billion, a significant increase from the previous upper limit of $7.662 billion and well above the consensus analyst estimate of approximately $7.7 billion.

Second-quarter adjusted earnings per share (EPS) came in at 41 cents, surpassing the market expectation of 35 cents. Revenue grew 93% year-over-year to $1.94 billion, also substantially exceeding the expected $1.8 billion. Following the announcement, Palantir's stock rose more than 9% to $136.90 in after-hours trading.

These impressive results effectively addressed two major concerns regarding Palantir's growth prospects: first, whether AI developers like Anthropic building their own software would erode its market share; and second, whether governments outside the U.S. would accelerate a shift toward local technology firms. Karp directly responded to these questions in his letter to shareholders.

Following the earnings release, Palantir surged 13% in after-hours trading.

## **Record U.S. Commercial Sales Become the Biggest Highlight**

The most notable data this quarter came from the U.S. commercial segment. Palantir's U.S. commercial sales soared 149% year-over-year to $764 million, far exceeding the consensus analyst estimate of $716.4 million. Karp described this figure as "stunning."

The company subsequently raised its full-year U.S. commercial revenue forecast to over $3.424 billion, an increase of approximately $200 million from the previous estimate of $3.224 billion. The revenue guidance for the third quarter is $2.160 billion to $2.164 billion, also higher than the consensus analyst estimate of $2.0 billion.

"Our business is compounding at an unprecedented speed and scale," Karp stated in his letter to shareholders.

## **Solid U.S. Government Demand, Overseas Business Faces Sovereignty Pressure**

Compared to the explosive growth in the commercial segment, Palantir's U.S. government business also maintained strong momentum. U.S. revenue grew 115% year-over-year to $1.57 billion in the second quarter, while overseas revenue increased by 33% to $362.5 million, a growth rate significantly lower than that of the domestic market.

The relative weakness in overseas business stems partly from geopolitical pressures. Officials in France and the UK have recently pushed to terminate cooperation agreements with Palantir, citing the need to protect national technological sovereignty and instead support local tech companies in supplying software for national security and critical infrastructure.

Meanwhile, Palantir continues to deepen its defense footprint in the U.S. market. As previously reported by Reuters and other media outlets, Palantir is collaborating with Anduril to develop software for the Trump administration's "Golden Dome" missile defense project.

## **Karp Refutes AI Replacement Theory, Emphasizes Value of Data Sovereignty**

Addressing market concerns that large language model providers might encroach on its business space, Karp used the metaphor of the risks inherent in "letting models roam freely in customers' homes" in his letter to shareholders, making it clear that customers are unwilling to hand over core business data and decision-making intelligence.

"What is being contested is control over data, the prompts fed into models, and more fundamentally, organizational and business wisdom—essentially, the customer's alpha," Karp wrote. "Language labs are not only willing but structurally designed to extract this value from customers. Our customers refuse to become vassals of language labs."

Founded in 2003, Palantir's core products include the AIP platform for AI application deployment, the Gotham system serving the defense and intelligence sectors, and the Apollo platform for software deployment management. In recent years, Karp and the company's executive team have consistently reinforced a pro-U.S. defense image, publishing books and speaking out publicly to call for the technology industry to reintegrate into the defense industrial base.
