# Triple Positive Catalysts Resonate: Boeing Surges Over 8% in a Single Day

On August 3 local time, Boeing's stock price surged significantly. Three positive developments converged, pushing the stock up by nearly 8%, making it one of the standout performers in the market that day.

For Boeing, this rise was the result of a triple boost: a breakthrough in regulatory certification, a reversal in ratings by a major bank, and an improvement in the macroeconomic environment. Previously, the company had reported better-than-expected free cash flow data last Tuesday, gradually building market confidence in its transformation process.

The sharp decline in oil prices was one of the important catalysts for this rebound. On Sunday, Trump announced the cancellation of planned strikes against Iran and sought to reopen negotiations regarding the Strait of Hormuz. Oil prices subsequently fell sharply, while the yield on the 10-year U.S. Treasury note declined by about 6 basis points, significantly improving overall market risk appetite.

## BNP Paribas Upgrades Rating with a "Double Jump," FAA Officially Certifies 737 Max 7

**Another major news item on Monday came from the sell-side research sector.**

BNP Paribas analysts upgraded Boeing's rating directly from "Underperform" to "Outperform," simultaneously raising the target price to $300, completing a rare "double jump" rating adjustment.

The analyst had maintained a bearish stance on Boeing since November 2025. This complete reversal of attitude has significant signaling value for market sentiment and provides an opportunity for other cautious investors to re-examine the stock.

**On the regulatory front, the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) officially certified the Boeing 737 Max 7 on Monday, ending the long approval waiting period for this aircraft model.**

According to a report sent to clients by Jefferies analysts on Monday, Boeing currently holds orders for 282 Max 7 aircraft, accounting for 6% of its total Max series orders.

With the certification of the Max 7 finalized, market focus immediately shifted to the 737 Max 10. Boeing stated that certification work for the Max 10 is expected to follow, but deliveries for both models are not expected to begin until next year.

Nevertheless, Jefferies believes this progress adds credibility to CEO Kelly Ortberg's corporate transformation narrative and free cash flow growth targets. The free cash flow data released by Boeing last Tuesday exceeded market expectations, further reinforcing this outlook.

## Declining Oil Prices Boost the Aviation Supply Chain, Improving Overall Market Sentiment

**The logic behind the boost to Boeing from falling oil prices lies in its transmission effect on airline profitability.**

The significant drop in oil prices on Monday provided room for a phased valuation repair across the entire aviation supply chain.

Lower jet fuel costs help improve airline profit margins, thereby reducing the likelihood of delaying or canceling aircraft orders, which has strengthened aerospace stocks overall.

**Behind Boeing's strength lies a broader market rebound pattern.**

Hyperscale cloud computing companies such as Amazon, Alphabet, Microsoft, and Meta continued their gains on Monday, marking their second consecutive day of strong performance.

Investors responded positively to Amazon CEO Andy Jassy's explanations regarding the expected returns on artificial intelligence spending and the cash flow timeline.

At the macro level, falling oil prices drove interest rates lower, providing support for valuations. Overall market risk appetite was significantly boosted at the start of the week, with the S&P 500 Index just one step away from its historical closing high.
