# 2026 Extreme Overhauls: Cango's Crypto Pivot, MACOM's AI Boom, and Under-the-Radar Restructurings

In a year dominated by the mega-cap tech giants, I'm told that some of the most significant underlying business overhauls are quietly taking place on the periphery of the market. From aggressively embracing Bitcoin and catching the secondary AI tailwind to facing imminent delistings, this scattered group of companies highlights the extreme divergence in late-stage business cycles. This week, the spotlight isn't just on the blue chips, but on how smaller players are restructuring to survive 2026.

### MACOM Technology Solutions (MTSI.US)

MACOM is rapidly cementing itself as a crucial secondary player in the AI data center build-out. Boosted by surging demand for 800G and 1.6T optical connectivity, the analog semiconductor maker reported Q2 2026 revenue of **USD 288.96 million**, easily topping estimates. According to people familiar with the supply chain, the data center business expansion is accelerating. Coupled with an initial USD 70 million agreement under the CHIPS Act, the segment is targeting nearly 35% sequential growth into the third quarter.

### Cango (CANG.US)

This is arguably the most dramatic pivot of the year. Once focused on auto trading, Cango has completely flipped its business model to crypto. Its Q1 2026 report showed that USD 98.4 million of its **USD 102 million** total revenue came directly from Bitcoin mining. However, price volatility resulted in a massive non-cash impairment loss of over USD 260 million. Following a 10-for-1 reverse split in July, I'm told the company will shift its operational focus toward distributed AI computing solutions.

### Noodles & Company (NDLS.US)

The fast-casual chain is undergoing a top-down contraction. While Noodles & Company logged **USD 127 million** in Q2 2026 revenue and a surprising seventh consecutive quarter of positive same-store sales, the restructuring isn't over. I've learned that management plans to shut down another 30 to 35 company-owned locations this fiscal year to appease activist investors and handle its expensive debt load.

### Odyssey Marine Exploration (OMEX.US)

The liquidity crunch for the deep-ocean exploration company has reached a tipping point. With a meager Q1 2026 operating revenue of just **USD 22,500** and a recent Nasdaq non-compliance notice, Odyssey is backed into a corner. Its pending merger with AOMC appears to be the only viable lifeline to inject cash against a negative USD 70 million shareholder equity.

### Safe Bulkers (SB.US)

Standing out as an island of stability in this group, Safe Bulkers capitalized on rising Time Charter Equivalent rates, which hit **USD 20,642**. This pushed its Q2 net income up 33% to USD 35.2 million. The company's recent dual-listing on the Euronext Athens is seen internally as a strategic move to broaden its European shareholder base.
