# International Oil Prices Decline! Qatar and the US Successively Release Diplomatic Signals, Expectations Rise for Reopening of the Strait of Hormuz

Multiple parties released diplomatic signals, raising expectations for a de-escalation of tensions in the Middle East, causing international oil prices to fall.

According to Xinhua News Agency, Qatari Foreign Ministry spokesman Ansari stated on the 4th that **relevant parties are continuing their efforts to de-escalate the situation in the Middle East. Although no agreement has been reached yet, it is important to return to the diplomatic track.**

According to a report by Al Jazeera on the 4th, Ansari said at a press conference in Doha that the current focus is on de-escalating tensions, reopening the Strait of Hormuz, and advancing the diplomatic process. "Our primary concern at present is to resume negotiations. To achieve this goal, it is essential to ensure a ceasefire and reopen the Strait of Hormuz."

He stated that relevant parties have "drafted wording" for a potential agreement, and drafts of the agreement have been circulated among the relevant parties. Later, according to CCTV News, on August 4 local time, **US Secretary of State Rubio stated that negotiations with Iran regarding the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz had "made progress," but the agreement had not yet been finalized, expressing hope that an agreement would be reached "soon."**

As market expectations for a diplomatic breakthrough further intensified, the decline in international oil prices widened. At the time of writing, WTI crude oil fell more than 4.4 yuan to $76.77 per barrel.
