# OpenAI claims that the lawsuit initiated by Apple is hasty and "filled with inexplicable personal emotions."

OpenAI stated that former employees were able to access sensitive information due to security vulnerabilities within Apple itself.

Apple sued OpenAI last month, accusing the latter of stealing trade secrets. OpenAI issued a strong and comprehensive response. The organization published a blog post on Tuesday, stating that the lawsuit is "hasty, aggressive, and mixed with inexplicable personal emotions."

In the blog post, OpenAI refuted several claims made in Apple's lawsuit point by point. Apple accused its former employee Chang Liu of intentionally taking confidential information when he joined OpenAI. However, OpenAI provided a completely different explanation: Liu and other former Apple employees were still able to access relevant information because Apple failed to "properly manage system access permissions when employees left." A report from The Information on Monday had already delved into such security management vulnerabilities.

The related report mentioned that Apple encourages new employees to link their personal Apple IDs with their corporate digital identities. This often results in employees still being able to access work files stored in iCloud after leaving the company. In some cases, Apple has even used this continued access after departure to sue former employees
