# Tesla: Terafab will be built in Grimes County, Texas, and will become the largest chip manufacturing facility in history

Tesla announced on X that Terafab will be built in Grimes County, Texas.

"The demand for chips from both Tesla and SpaceX will far exceed the levels that current and future global production capacities can meet."

Terafab will become "the largest chip manufacturing facility in history, aiming to produce over 1 terawatt of computing power annually."

Texas Governor Greg Abbott stated in another announcement that the first phase of the Terafab project involves over $16.8 billion in capital investment and will create 3,000 new jobs.

The Texas Enterprise Fund has provided a $30 million grant to SpaceX
