description: "Needham analyst Gerald Pascarelli and UBS both assigned a Hold rating to Monster Beverage (MNST). While the company demonstrates solid growth momentum with double-digit constant-currency sales growth and robust demand, rising cost pressures, particularly an increasing Midwest Premium, offset these gains. Consequently, the risk-reward is viewed as balanced, justifying the neutral stance despite strong market position and product diversification."

Gerald Pascarelli has given his Hold rating due to a combination of factors, starting with Monster Beverage’s ability to deliver another quarter of solid revenue and profit outperformance, supported by robust demand in the U.S. and major international markets. Recent data from July indicate that this strength is persisting into the third quarter, with constant-currency sales growing at a double-digit pace on comparable selling days.

At the same time, he notes that while household adoption, purchase frequency, and usage occasions are all trending higher, and the company’s leading market position and diversified product set remain strategic strengths, there are emerging cost pressures. Specifically, an increasing Midwest Premium is expected to weigh on results for the balance of the year, and although management plans to offset this through pricing and other measures, Pascarelli views the risk-reward as balanced, justifying a Hold rather than a more aggressive rating.

Pascarelli covers the Consumer Defensive sector, focusing on stocks such as Turning Point Brands, Celsius Holdings, and Vital Farms. According to TipRanks, Pascarelli has an average return of \-5.5% and a 36.70% success rate on recommended stocks.

In another report released today, UBS also assigned a Hold rating to the stock with a $105.00 price target.
