While stricter compliance may impact attractiveness, HK participating policies remain competitive due to higher returns and multi-currency features. UBS forecasts AIAVNB growth in the mid-teens, with strong support at HKD70 and a potential 5% shareholder payout yield next year." datetime: "2026-08-10T02:44:00.000Z" locales: - [zh-CN](https://longbridge.com/zh-CN/news/295350220.md) - [en](https://longbridge.com/en/news/295350220.md) - [zh-HK](https://longbridge.com/zh-HK/news/295350220.md) generator: "portal-rs" --- # UBS: CN STA Clarifies Offshore Policy Taxation Not New Rule, HK Participating Insurance Products Expected to Remain Competitive China's State Taxation Administration (STA) clarified that taxation on offshore insurance policies is not a new regulation and is not specifically targeting Hong Kong insurance products, reinforcing UBS' view that Chinese authorities are moving toward stricter tax compliance policies. UBS noted that insurance product profit structures are complex, covering cash dividends, reversionary bonuses and prepaid premium interest. Current individual income tax laws have yet to provide detailed guidance on taxation of policy proceeds, while proceeds from mainland domestic insurance policies are currently not subject to actual taxation in practice. However, tax authorities had previously discussed related issues with major insurers. Tax enforcement on Hong Kong insurance products has so far been limited to individual cases. The broker viewed tighter regulation may increase compliance concerns, but Hong Kong insurance policies remain legal under the clear regulatory frameworks of mainland China and Hong Kong. While tax factors may erode the relative attractiveness of related products, Hong Kong participating insurance policies still possess advantages including higher returns, multi-currency features and broader investment scope, and are expected to remain competitive. UBS expected investors to react differently to regulatory risks, but the market generally still views AIA (01299.HK) +0.100 (+0.135%) Short selling $407.11M; Ratio 12.207% share price at HKD70 as a strong support level, with limited downside expected. The broker believed some investors will find the risk-reward profile attractive, forecasting AIA's VNB to log mid-teens growth, operating return to reach 16%, and shareholder payout yield to potentially reach 5% next year.
