The 29th Chengdu International Automobile Exhibition (2026 Chengdu Auto Show) will be held from August 21 to 30 at the Western China Expo City in Chengdu, Sichuan province, making it China's first A-level auto show of the second half of the year. The show will cover 220,000 square meters and bring together nearly 120 domestic and international brands as well as about 1,600 vehicles, the organizer said on Wednesday. As one of China's five A-level auto shows, the Chengdu event is seen as a barometer of demand in the southwestern Chinese market. It is also a key window for automakers ahead of the peak sales season. Join us on Telegram or Google News BYD (HKEX: 1211) will have a dedicated group pavilion in Hall 9, where the Da Han, the Dynasty lineup's first D-segment luxury flagship sedan, will make its global debut on the media day. Denza, Fang Cheng Bao and Yangwang will also be present, with outdoor demonstrations including driverless drifting by the Denza Z9GT and the Yangwang U8's emergency flotation capability. Huawei-led HIMA (Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance) will attend with all five of its brands: Aito, Luxeed, Stelato, Maextro and Shangjie. The flagship Maextro V800 and V680 MPVs (multi-purpose vehicles) will appear at an auto show for the first time, while the new Luxeed RX and the Stelato V8 will also make public appearances. Among EV startups, Xiaomi (HKEX: 1810) will display its battery electric and extended-range series side by side for the first time, showcasing the Sky Nomad N90 Max and N70 Max extended-range SUVs. Nio Inc (NYSE: NIO) will show models from all three of its brands — Nio, Onvo and Firefly — at a single booth, H202 in Hall 2. The Xpeng (NYSE: XPEV) G9L will arrive with both battery electric and super extended-range powertrains. Leapmotor (HKEX: 9863) will bring the A10 and the A05 launched just yesterday, while the Avatr 07L and the all-new IM L6 will also make their auto show debuts. Chery Group will attend with five brands — Chery, iCar, Zongheng, Exeed and Jetour — and the Exeed EX6 will make its global debut. GWM (HKEX: 2333) will display the all-new Tank 300, the Wey V8X and the GWM H10, while Geely Auto's (HKEX: 0175) Galaxy brand will bring the Galaxy Cruiser 700 and the C-segment all-electric Galaxy TT sedan. Overseas brands are speeding up their electrification roll-outs. The new long-wheelbase Mercedes-Benz GLE SUV will make its global debut and be opened to public test drives for the first time, the long-wheelbase version of BMW's Neue Klasse iX3 will start pre-sales, and the AUDI brand will bring new versions of the E5 Sportback and the E7X. Freelander, the brand jointly created by Chery and Jaguar Land Rover, will make its first appearance at the Chengdu show, where its first production model, the Freelander 8, will be present. SAIC Volkswagen's ID.ERA 8X and ID.ERA 5X will make their global debuts in Chengdu, and the ID.ERA 5S, the brand's first model globally with urban NOA (Navigation on Autopilot), will be officially launched. The Ioniq V, the first model in China from Beijing Hyundai's premium new energy brand Ioniq, will begin pre-sales on the first day of the auto show. Models made in Chengdu will also be on display. The production version of the Epicland X9, a full-size flagship SUV jointly developed by Dongfeng and Huawei, will begin deliveries at the show, and Jetta will bring the Jetta X concept and the all-electric Jetta M6. Locally built models including the Volvo EX90, the Zeekr X and the Lynk & Co Z20 will also be shown. The other A-level show of 2026, the Shenzhen Auto Show, closed on June 7, drawing 810,000 visits and 39,253 vehicle orders.
