Speaking with Yahoo Finance Executive Editor Brian Sozzi on the "Power Players with Brian Sozzi" podcast, Chesky argued that the industry’s focus on enterprise customers has left consumers without enough tangible AI products that improve their daily lives. ## AI Needs Everyday Uses "I think part of it’s a narrative issue that we’re not talking about AI correctly," Chesky said. He added that Silicon Valley also needs products that regular people can use and that provide tangible benefits, such as affordable access to services that would otherwise be out of reach. Chesky said founders appear more reluctant to build consumer-facing products than when he started Airbnb 18 years ago. He pointed to Y Combinator, where he serves on the board, saying 159 of the latest 175 companies were focused on enterprise rather than consumers. "It’s in Silicon Valley’s interest for us to develop consumer applications that improve people’s lives," Chesky said. Chesky’s push for more consumer-focused AI comes as Airbnb itself has been seeing measurable benefits from the technology. In an interview with CNBC, Chesky said Airbnb’s AI implementation costs "pale in comparison" to the revenue and productivity gains the company is seeing. He also said 45% of guest interactions handled with AI were resolved without human assistance. A June Pew Research Center report found that 40% of U.S. adults believed AI’s impact on society over the next 20 years would be negative, compared with 16% who expected a positive impact. ## Trust Remains a Hurdle Consumer adoption is growing, but trust remains an issue. Only 18% of U.S. adults said they had used tools such as ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini for financial guidance over the past year, compared with 32% who used professional financial advisers and 73% who relied on internet research. The gap is particularly visible among older Americans. About 26% of Gen Z and 25% of millennials had used AI for financial guidance, compared with 7% of baby boomers. **Read Also: Republican States Race to Cut Property Taxes Ahead of November Elections as Homeowners Demand Relief** ## AI Moves Into Real Use AI is increasingly being used beyond model development. **DigitalOcean Holdings, Inc.** (NYSE:DOCN) CEO **Paddy Srinivasan** said the company’s AI inference services grew roughly 800% year over year, driven by AI agents and applications involving personal productivity, search, advertising technology, generative media and coding. Gallup found that 65% of employees at organizations using AI reported personal productivity gains. Separately, its data showed job-market optimism in the U.S. and Canada had fallen 23 percentage points since 2019. Chesky’s argument comes down to making AI useful enough in everyday life that consumers experience its benefits directly, rather than relying on Silicon Valley’s messaging to change their views. ***Disclaimer*:** *This content was produced with the help of AI tools and was reviewed and published by Benzinga editors.* **Read Also: Jensen Huang Says Nvidia’s 2020 A100 GPUs Can Stay ‘Mission-Capable’ Through 2029—Here’s Why It Matters for the AI Boom** *Photo courtesy: Thrive Studios ID / Shutterstock.com* ### Related Stocks - [ABNB.US](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/ABNB.US.md) - [ABNY.US](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/ABNY.US.md) - [DOCN.US](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/DOCN.US.md) - [NVDA.US](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/NVDA.US.md) - [NVD.DE](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/NVD.DE.md) ## Related News & Research - [Airbnb (ABNB) Hits A Four Year High, Is The Upside Already Priced In?](https://longbridge.com/en/news/296687271.md) - [Airbnb Chief Strategy Officer Nathan Blecharczyk reports disposal of Class A shares worth $1.25 million](https://longbridge.com/en/news/296657406.md) - [Airbnb Chief Strategy Officer Nathan Blecharczyk disposes of 13,615 common shares worth $2.49 million](https://longbridge.com/en/news/296408273.md) - [SKF executive Zaks says AI should augment, not replace, human expertise](https://longbridge.com/en/news/296592053.md) - [SAP plans single AI-powered entry point linking sales teams to network of specialized agents](https://longbridge.com/en/news/296490170.md) --- > **Disclaimer: This article is for reference only and does not constitute any investment advice.**
