# OpenAI's annual revenue is expected to double and surpass $40 billion, announcing a change in revenue leadership for the second time within a year

### AI Highlights

- OpenAI's annualized revenue is expected to exceed $40 billion, doubling from the end-of-year level.
- AI programming, subscription services, and advertising business have jointly accelerated recent revenue growth.
- The company has changed its revenue head again within less than a year and is accelerating preparations for a sensational IPO.

According to informed sources, based on current performance, OpenAI's annualized revenue is expected to exceed $40 billion, nearly doubling from the annualized revenue level at the end of 2025. On the other hand, OpenAI recently announced a change in its revenue head, marking the second personnel change in less than a year, coinciding with OpenAI's preparations for what is expected to be a "sensational" initial public offering (IPO).

Bloomberg reported, citing informed sources, that the ChatGPT developer has seen accelerated revenue growth in recent months, partly driven by the rapid growth of its AI programming software business. Revenue growth also reflects a continuous increase in subscription service sales and momentum from its early-stage advertising business. OpenAI's core consumer business continues to grow.

OpenAI declined to comment.

Currently, OpenAI is engaged in fierce competition with long-term rival Anthropic for more enterprise customers. Both companies have secretly submitted IPO-related documents, with Anthropic expected to go public as early as this fall, potentially ahead of OpenAI.

Anthropic was previously seen as a laggard, but is now gradually gaining market advantage with AI tools that simplify complex tasks, including programming tools. In May, Anthropic stated that its annualized revenue had surpassed $47 billion, although the two companies may not calculate this metric in exactly the same way.

The term "annualized revenue" refers to estimating a company's total revenue for the year based on revenue performance over a shorter period.

On the other hand, OpenAI announced on the 13th that it has replaced its revenue head, appointing Dali Rajic, a senior executive from the cybersecurity industry and president and COO of Alphabet's cybersecurity company Wiz, as the new revenue head, succeeding Denise Dresser, who joined OpenAI as revenue head only last December.

OpenAI stated in a press release that Dresser will "seek other development opportunities." Her departure marks the second high-level executive exit at OpenAI within just a few days. Senior executive and former COO Brad Lightcap announced on Tuesday that he will leave to pursue new projects.

In an internal announcement regarding this personnel appointment, OpenAI co-founder and president Greg Brockman stated that the company's annualized revenue in July increased by more than 20% compared to June.

OpenAI's CFO Sarah Friar previously stated that the company's annualized revenue at the end of last year had exceeded $20 billion In recent weeks, OpenAI has seen a surge in demand for AI agents, including Codex for programming and ChatGPT Work, which can handle a wider range of work tasks. Additionally, OpenAI has lowered the prices of some AI models to more effectively attract cost-sensitive customers
