The latest US PPI unexpectedly stayed flat MoM, while initial jobless claims came in slightly above market expectations, further easing expectations for a Federal Reserve rate hike in September. The S&P 500 hit fresh intraday and closing record highs, rising 0.65%, while the DJIA and Nasdaq gained 0.1% and more than 0.8% respectively. This morning (14th), the HSI opened down 177 pts before losses widened. By midday, it stood at 25,160, down 236 pts or 0.93%, with half-day market turnover at HKD135.724 billion. The HSCEI was at 8,354, down 71 pts or 0.85%, while the HSTECH stood at 4,706, down 85 pts or 1.79%. JD-related stocks came under notable pressure after releasing earnings results.
