The firm also highlighted inference spending surpassing training spending as evidence that AI investment is shifting toward deployment and real-world use, while growing infrastructure financing points to continued demand for AI capacity. ## ChatGPT Regains Ground Against Gemini ChatGPT remained the clear leader in web traffic and mobile app usage in July, BNP Paribas said. It also regained share across both visits and daily active users, or DAUs. Gemini’s share of worldwide visits fell to 28.8% in July from 30.3% in June. Its share of DAUs remained unchanged at 19.8%. Claude continued to gain ground. Its share of visits rose to 10.4% from 10%, while its DAU share remained flat. Grok lost ground, while **Meta Platforms Inc.** (NASDAQ:META) Meta AI remained stable to slightly improving. Grok and Meta AI continued to trail ChatGPT, Gemini and Claude, BNP Paribas said. Overall AI chatbot web traffic slipped about 1% from June. However, average monthly mobile DAUs and monthly active users each increased about 1%. ## AI Spending Shifts Toward Real-World Use BNP Paribas also highlighted a shift in AI spending toward inference, which involves using trained models to run real-world applications. The firm cited **Gartner** estimates showing global inference spending will reach $23.3 billion in 2026, surpassing the $19 billion expected for AI model training. BNP Paribas said the trend highlights a shift toward deployment and real-world usage as AI adoption expands beyond frontier model development. ## AI Infrastructure Demand Builds The firm also highlighted **NVIDIA Corporation’s** (NASDAQ:NVDA) partnerships with major private equity and asset management firms, including **Apollo Global Management, Inc.** (NYSE:APO), **BlackRock, Inc.** (NYSE:BLK), **Blackstone Inc.** (NYSE:BX) and **Brookfield Asset Management Ltd.** (NYSE:BAM). The effort aims to mobilize more than $500 billion in third-party capital for AI infrastructure. BNP Paribas said the financing push underscores significant and growing demand for AI infrastructure. The firm also pointed to surging demand for high-bandwidth memory, or HBM, which has put pressure on memory supply and pricing. Meanwhile, CME Group plans to introduce Compute futures with Silicon Data on Oct. 5.
