# Alibaba Open-Sources Qwen3.8, Qwen Large Language Model Surpasses 3 Billion Global Downloads

On the evening of August 14, Alibaba officially open-sourced the Qwen3.8 series of models, allowing all developers, research institutions, and enterprises to freely download, deploy, and use them.

The newly open-sourced Qwen3.8-27B is a native multimodal dense model. With a scale of only 27 billion parameters, its overall performance surpasses that of Qwen3.7-Plus, demonstrating excellent capabilities in real-world scenarios such as programming and office productivity. The new model features fast response times, high-quality outputs, and easy deployment. After quantization, it can run smoothly on consumer-grade graphics cards, making it the most anticipated open-source model within the global AI community. Qwen3.8-27B is open-sourced under the permissive Apache 2.0 license and is poised to become a leading model for local deployment.

Previously, the flagship model Qwen3.8-Max also had its model weights open-sourced. Public data shows that Alibaba has cumulatively open-sourced over 460 models to the global AI community. The Qwen model series has achieved over 3 billion downloads worldwide, with more than 300,000 derivative models, firmly maintaining its position as the world's top open-source model.
