# HSBC Advances Global Share Buy-Back With UK and Hong Kong Repurchases

The latest update is out from HSBC Holdings ( (GB:HSBA) ).

HSBC Holdings plc has continued executing its share buy-back programme, repurchasing and cancelling 1.3 million ordinary shares on UK venues and 580,000 shares on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange on 14 August 2026. These transactions, conducted via BNP Paribas Financial Markets, are structured as on-exchange market purchases in the UK and off-market under UK law but on-market in Hong Kong.

Since the buy-back commenced on 5 August 2026, HSBC has repurchased a total of about 8.55 million shares for an aggregate consideration of approximately US$176.4 million, while its issued ordinary share capital and total voting rights stand at more than 17.1 billion shares. The ongoing buy-back reduces share count and may enhance earnings per share, signalling capital strength and a commitment to returning surplus capital to shareholders across its dual UK and Hong Kong listings.
