The parent company of Chrysler and Dodge said that it is recalling 955,000 vehicles worldwide, including 848,000 automobiles in the United States. The recalled vehicles include 2026 and 2027 model year Chrysler Pacifica, Pacifica Plug-in Hybrid, Dodge Charger, Jeep Cherokee, Compass, Gladiator, Grand Cherokee, Grand Wagoneer, Ram 1500, 2500 and ProMaster vehicles.

An additional 107,000 vehicles are being recalled in Canada and Mexico for the same problem. Impacted owners will receive an over-the-air radio software update via a prompt on the vehicle's media screen when the update is ready to install. ‌If the rear-view camera image does not appear as expected, drivers should use their rear-view and side mirrors when reversing, said Stellantis in a news release.

## **Mandated Rear-View Cameras**

As a safety precaution, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration in 2014 mandated rear-view cameras in all light-duty trucks and vehicles by 2018, saying that, on average, the U.S. had 210 deaths and 15,000 injuries per year caused by crashes that occurred when trucks were backing up. About 30% of the deaths involved young children.

Separately, Stellantis is reportedly planning to close and sell its idled vehicle manufacturing plant located in Brampton, Ontario outside of Toronto, Canada. Citing tariff impacts, Stellantis announced late last year that it was moving production of its Jeep Compass vehicle from the Canadian manufacturing plant to America. STLA stock is down 53% this year.

## **Is STLA Stock a Buy?**

The stock of Stellantis has a consensus Hold rating among 16 Wall Street analysts. That rating is based on two Buy, 10 Hold, and four Sell recommendations issued in the last three months. The average STLA price target of $6.85 implies 34% upside from current levels.
