# Misfit Toys of the Market: Who Survives the 2026 Reality Check?

I've seen my fair share of bizarre market groupings, but throwing a quantum computing firm, a Chinese gaming behemoth, and a takeout container manufacturer into the same bucket? This is market fragmentation at its most absurd. But look closer, and this island of misfit toys actually tells a profound story about where the real money is going in 2026, and who is just pretending to be awake. This is a mess, and here's why.

Let's start with the only heavyweight that actually matters here: NetEase (NTES.US). They are bringing *Marvel Rivals* to Gamescom and proving they can still navigate the complex Chinese gaming landscape while expanding globally. While everyone else is screaming about AI disruption, NetEase is quietly retaining users and building actual products. That is a real business, not a PowerPoint presentation.

Speaking of PowerPoint AI, Globant (GLOB.US) just got a harsh reality check. Their stock took a significant hit recently after they slashed their full-year 2026 revenue guidance. You can rebrand your traditional IT consulting as "AI-as-a-Service" all you want—and yes, their Glob.AI platform hit USD 52.8M in ARR—but AI coding tools are eating your core business. Winning a FIFA contract is cute, but why aren't you moving faster to fix the underlying erosion?

If you want real tech, look at Velo3D (VELO.US). They are actually building things. With Q2 revenue up 52.3% and the opening of Forge 1 in Livermore, they are tripling their metal 3D printing capacity. The stock has seen a recent rebound, but the real test is if they can scale beyond SpaceX and defense contracts. Still, it is refreshing to see a company that makes physical products rather than empty promises.

Then we have the head-scratchers. AMTD Digital (HKD.US) is apparently buying more hotels now? They announced a USD 10M buyback and a positive profit alert driven by hotel acquisitions. Good luck with that. It remains a convoluted "digital solutions" hodgepodge that I still wouldn't touch. Karat Packaging (KLAG.US) posted record Q2 sales of USD 136.3M, but let's be honest—that massive profit surge was largely driven by a one-time USD 25.8M tariff refund. Don't mistake a windfall for a sustainable moat.

The rest of the pack is either dying or already dead. Blue Gold (BGL.US) is fighting delisting notices from Nasdaq and desperately trying to engineer a reverse split. D-Wave Quantum (DRTS.US) boasts a 1,120% surge in H1 bookings, yet managed a pathetic USD 3.1M in Q2 revenue. Investors are tired of science projects; they want scalable revenue. Heartland Financial USA (HTFL.US) is officially swallowed by UMB Financial—story over. McCormick & Company (MKC.US) is so quiet they might as well be asleep. And don't get me started on the Bondbloxx USD High Yield Sector Rotation ETF (HYSA.US), where the top ten holdings make up 99.95% of assets. That is not diversification; that is a tightrope walk.

The bottom line? The market has zero patience for fluff in 2026. Show me the cash flow, or get out of the way.
