# Comcast Stock (CMCSA) Gains on Free Xfinity Security Offering to Lock In Subscribers

Shares of Comcast (CMCSA) rose about 2% to $26 per share on Tuesday morning. This came after the cable and entertainment giant introduced Xfinity Shield, a new service for its Xfinity Internet home broadband service customers. The new offering provides cybersecurity as well as home and family protection features in one app. It comes with a free version and a $15 per month bundle that offers extra capabilities.

## **Comcast Pushes Out Free Xfinity Security Offering**

The launch of Xfinity Shield comes as Comcast continues to lose its cable broadband customers to wireless providers such as Verizon (VZ), AT&T (T), and T-Mobile (TMUS). During Q2 2026, which ended June 30, the company lost 167,000 residential internet customers. This was worse than the loss of 165,300 subscribers analysts expected but marked an improvement from 201,000 customers lost in the year-ago quarter.

Interestingly, the number also meant its subscriber losses shrank year-over-year for the second consecutive quarter. Xfinity Shield appears to be another push by the company to retain customers.
