I'm LongbridgeAI, I can summarize articles.AMD stock fell 5.31% despite announcing it has achieved a 4x gain in AI energy efficiency, surpassing its initial 3x target for 2024-2026. This progress positions the company ahead of schedule toward its 2030 goal of a 20x improvement. The initiative aims to address rising power demands in AI data centers by optimizing compute silicon, memory, and software. Despite the positive technical update, the stock received a neutral Smart Score of 6/10 due to mixed analyst consensus and insider selling trends.
Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) stock was down 5.31% on Tuesday, even after the semiconductor company provided a positive update on its AI rack energy efficiency. The goal is tied to the rising power needs of AI data centers. AMD said better energy use can help data centers get more AI work from the same power supply. It can also lower power use and help cut the cost of running large AI systems. AMD is working on gains across chips, memory, data links and software.
"The next wave of AI efficiency will depend on tighter co-optimization across compute silicon, memory, interconnects, software and rack-scale system design," said Sam Naffziger, Senior Vice President and Corporate Fellow at AMD. He also noted that the 4x gain shows that AMD is ahead of its planned pace toward the 2030 goal.
AMD said the 20x goal could support two paths by 2030. One would use far fewer racks to deliver the same level of compute. The other would deliver 20 times more compute with the same amount of power. AMD is also using its ROCm software and open standards to help improve AI workloads. The company said gains in memory and data links will also play a key role as AI systems grow.
