# HSBC Advances Multi-Venue Share Buy-Back With US$263 Million Repurchases

HSBC Holdings ( (GB:HSBA) ) just unveiled an announcement.

HSBC Holdings plc, a leading global banking and financial services provider based in London, maintains listings on multiple international exchanges and serves a wide range of retail, commercial and institutional customers. Its scale and diversified market presence are reflected in a large issued share capital and active use of capital management tools such as share repurchase programmes.

The company has continued its share buy-back programme launched on 5 August 2026, purchasing and cancelling a total of 3,012,414 ordinary shares on 18 August across UK venues and the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. Since the start of the programme, HSBC has repurchased about 12.75 million shares for an approximate total consideration of US$263.3 million, a move that tightens its share count, may support earnings per share, and signals confidence in its balance sheet and long-term value to shareholders.

These repurchases were executed as on-exchange market purchases in the UK and as off-market under UK company law but on-exchange transactions in Hong Kong, complying with the respective listing and takeover codes. The multi-venue structure of the buy-back underscores HSBC’s dual-market presence and reflects a coordinated capital management strategy aimed at both London and Hong Kong investor bases.
