# WuXi Biologics hits 52-week high on mRNA vaccine breakthrough

WuXi Biologics (2269.HK) climbed 7% in Hong Kong trading to **HK$49.40**, touching a fresh 52-week high.

The rally rode a sector-wide surge in biotech shares following a landmark clinical trial result: Moderna and Merck's personalized mRNA cancer vaccine succeeded in a large-scale Phase III study — the first Phase III win for any mRNA oncology vaccine. The breakthrough sent Moderna shares soaring more than 170% in U.S. trading, lifting Hong Kong-listed biotech names in Thursday's session.

As a leading global biologic CRDMO, WuXi Biologics benefited from the risk-on tone sweeping the sector. Separately, Goldman Sachs' recent stake increase in Asymchem Laboratories (06821.HK) underscored continued institutional confidence in the contract drug development space.
