# UBS Trims AIA TP Slightly to HKD102; Strong Demand from MCVs to HK; Buy Rating Kept

UBS published a report summarizing key takeaways from AIA (01299.HK) +2.000 (+2.749%) Short selling $452.79M; Ratio 22.583% 's 1H results briefing. Investors were highly focused on the Mainland Chinese Visitor (MCV) business in Hong Kong, as market concerns over regulatory developments have persisted since end-May 2026.

AIA stated that the regulatory framework has always existed, while demand from MCV remains strong. June was the strongest month in 1H for growth in value of new business from MCVs. The company underscored the structural drivers behind demand from MCVs, including diversification of global investment opportunities, high-quality advice, and flexible product design.

AIA acknowledged mounting competition in the Hong Kong market, but said it remains focused on quality growth to translate into earnings and cash generation. Starting from September 1, the Hong Kong Federation of Insurers will launch a unified critical illness definition framework. AIA said participation is voluntary and that most of its products already broadly comply with the framework.

Regarding the China business, AIA China remains confident about the growth outlook for 2026 despite the implementation of Circular No. 65 from July 1, which strengthens filing and execution consistency requirements for bancassurance channels. The industry is currently in a transition period, including product re-filings, but the bancassurance channel accounted for less than 15% of AIA China's value of new business in 2025.

The broker lowered its TP on AIA from HKD104 to HKD102 to reflect the impact of macro conditions since 2H, including a 7.8% decline in the CSI 300 Index, on embedded value. It maintained a Buy rating on the stock.
