# Dow Jones Recovers from Yield-Driven Sell-Off

The Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA) was up 0.52% at the time of writing on Friday, following yesterday's decline stemming from rising Treasury yields. Notably, the Dow Jones fell 1.32% on Thursday, as Treasury yields rose despite the U.S. government's announcement about doubling buybacks for long-dated debt. Despite Friday's recovery, the Dow Jones is on track for another weekly loss.

On Thursday, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent assured that he has multiple measures at his disposal to address liquidity problems in the government debt market. 

Meanwhile, longer-dated U.S. government bond yields advanced slightly on Friday. At the time of writing, the yield on the 30-year U.S. Treasury note was up 0.02% to 5.26%. Also, the 10-year U.S. Treasury yield, the key benchmark for mortgages, auto loans, and credit card debt, rose 0.02% to 4.714%.
