# Report: Shell PLC  Mulls Sale of USD8 billion US Chemical Assets

The Financial Times of the UK, citing sources, reported that Shell PLC (SHEL.US) is seeking to divest underperforming businesses, with its US chemical assets valued at several billion US dollars attracting interest from potential buyers including ExxonMobil Holdings Corporation (XOM.US) , LyondellBasell Industries NV Ordinary Shares (LYB.US) , private equity firm Apollo Global Management, Inc. (New) (APO.US) , and the chemicals division of Kuwait Petroleum Corporation.

Shell PLC's chemical plants in the US are located across four sites in Louisiana, Texas and Pennsylvania, producing chemicals used in a wide range of applications including plastics, detergents and pharmaceuticals.

It is understood that potential buyers submitted non-binding indicative bids last month. Proposed transactions include acquisitions of the entire business or selected operations, with the assets potentially valued at up to USD8 billion.
