Xpeng (NYSE: XPEV) will accelerate new model launches as it seeks to lift monthly sales above 60,000 units in the fourth quarter. The EV maker's chairman and CEO He Xiaopeng said during an earnings call on Monday that the large 5-seat flagship G9L SUV (sport utility vehicle) will officially launch and begin deliveries in China in September. The Mona lineup's L05 SUV will launch in China in the fourth quarter. Together with the previously introduced GX and Mona L03, the new model will give Xpeng coverage across the major SUV segments. Join us on Telegram or Google News Mr He said these models will drive a significant increase in Xpeng's sales in the fourth quarter, with the company targeting monthly sales of more than 60,000 units. Achieving that target would represent an increase of about 58% from Xpeng's July deliveries of 38,027 units. Xpeng monthly deliveries 2024 2025 2026 The company has guided for third-quarter deliveries of 115,000 to 121,000 units, implying average monthly deliveries of about 38,487 to 41,487 units in August and September. Xpeng delivered 103,295 vehicles in the second quarter, up 64.8% from the previous quarter. Mr He said new locked-in orders rose more than 50% sequentially in the third quarter, reaching a record high. However, extreme weather and supply-chain issues affected the production ramp-up of new models and slowed deliveries. Xpeng has begun double-shift production of the Mona L03 SUV and is working with suppliers to accelerate the capacity ramp-up. Mr He expects deliveries of the model to increase significantly in the coming months. The G9L began pre-sales in China on August 11 at a starting price of 259,800 yuan ($38,300). The large 5-seat SUV is available in battery electric vehicle (BEV) and extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) versions. All 6 variants use an 800-volt ultra-fast-charging platform. The EREV version has a CLTC combined range of 1,602 kilometers, while the BEV version offers a range of up to 755 kilometers. The G9L will compete with models including Li Auto's (NASDAQ: LI) Li L7 and the Huawei-backed Aito M7. It will form Xpeng's dual-flagship lineup with the 6-seat GX SUV. The Mona L05 is a mid-size SUV that will also be offered in BEV and EREV versions. It measures 4,870 millimeters in length and has a 2,940-millimeter wheelbase, and is positioned above the already-launched Mona L03, according to its regulatory filing. Overseas markets will also be an important source of Xpeng's sales growth in the fourth quarter. The update will also add longer-horizon reasoning and predictive capabilities. Xpeng also plans to integrate VLA with a Vision-Language Model (VLM) in the new version, bringing some robotaxi features to mass-produced vehicles. The company aims to obtain regulatory approval in Europe in the first half of 2027 and begin rolling out the second-generation VLA to users in more overseas markets.
