LongbridgeAII'm LongbridgeAI, I can summarize articles.

Flex Dental Solutions has launched two new features for its FlexPayments platform: Buy Now, Pay Later (powered by Affirm and Klarna) and Surcharging (powered by Yeeld). These tools aim to help Open Dental practices increase treatment acceptance rates by offering flexible payment plans and automatically recover credit card processing fees through compliant surcharging. Both features are available immediately within the existing checkout system.

New FlexPayments features help Open Dental practices convert more diagnosed treatment into scheduled care, and automatically recover the credit card processing fees they've been absorbing — both from a checkout procedure practices already use.

, /PRNewswire/ -- Flex Dental Solutions today announced two new additions to FlexPayments, its payments platform built for Open Dental practices: Buy Now, Pay Later, powered by Affirm and Klarna, and Surcharging powered by Yeeld, an automated credit card fee recovery tool. Both features are available now inside the FlexPayments checkout already connected to Open Dental — there is no new login, portal, or system for practices to learn.

Solving Both Ends of the Revenue Cycle

Dental practices commonly lose revenue in two places that are rarely discussed together: at the point of diagnosis, when patients delay or decline treatment over cost, and at the point of collection, when credit card processing fees quietly reduce what a practice actually keeps. According to Affirm's healthcare research, roughly 40% of adults delay or forgo treatment due to cost. Separately, credit card processing typically costs practices on every credit card transaction — a cost most practices absorb by default, without ever tracking what it adds up to.

"Getting paid and keeping what you've already earned aren't the same problem, and most dental payment software only solves one of them," said Craig Cormack, General Manager of Flex Dental Solutions. "FlexPayments now closes both ends of that loop, from the same checkout procedure practices already use every day."

Buy Now, Pay Later: More Patients Say Yes

With Buy Now, Pay Later, patients can split the cost of treatment directly at checkout, choosing from short-term installment plans or longer terms depending on their own needs and the size of the treatment plan. Practices offering flexible payment at the point of care have seen case acceptance rise by as much as 15%, turning "let me think about it" into a scheduled appointment. Practices are paid in full up front by Affirm or Klarna; patients repay their provider directly, on their own terms.

Surcharging: Recovering the Cost of Card Acceptance

Surcharging automatically adds a disclosed fee, up to 3%, only when a patient chooses to pay by credit card — offsetting the practice's processing cost on that transaction. Debit cards, ACH, and cash remain free for patients, and the surcharge is capped at the practice's actual cost of acceptance.

FlexPayments elevates compliance by embedding the Yeeld platform to enforce regulatory rules on every transaction, down to the local level. Surcharging is currently restricted in Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maine, and New York; Oklahoma, California, Colorado and Mississippi apply additional conditions.

Available Now

Both features are live immediately for new and existing Flex customers utilizing FlexPayments. Dental practices interested can visit flex.dental to learn more.
