Yangtze Optical Fibre Cable surges 8% on China Mobile fiber tender
Yangtze Optical Fibre and Cable (6869.HK) surged 8.47% in Hong Kong trading to HK$143.4, part of a broad rally in optical communications stocks, with dollar volume reaching about HK$2.47 billion.
Shares advanced after reports that China Mobile has restarted centralized procurement of ordinary optical cables, raising the maximum price cap by 8.5% to about 7.1 billion yuan. Brokerages said AI infrastructure buildouts are driving fiber demand and improving demand visibility, with leading fiber makers holding core domestic and overseas market share likely to keep benefiting.
The company, which reports results this week with AI and optical module themes in focus, earlier won the full allocation of China Telecom's Guangdong hollow-core and G.654.E fiber procurement for 159 million yuan.
