The starting price is unchanged from the pre-sales price after incentives announced on August 5, while the top-end version is 7,000 yuan cheaper than during pre-sales.
The Electra L7 BEV also has the same starting price as the extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) version, which was launched on September 28, 2025, with a limited-time starting price of 169,900 yuan.
Buick said the model is built on what it calls the "safest in the industry" 800-volt high-voltage platform, with 6C ultra-fast charging standard across the lineup. A 10-minute charge can add 450 km of range.
The model is equipped with an 80.6-kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack supplied by CATL (HKEX: 3750), giving it a CLTC range of 702 km.
With DC fast charging, the battery can charge from 30% to 80% in 9 minutes and from 10% to 80% in 11.5 minutes.
The Electra L7 BEV uses a single rear-mounted motor with a maximum output of 282 kW (378 hp) and peak torque of 382 Nm. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.6 seconds and has a top speed of 220 km/h.
The sedan measures 5,032 mm in length, 1,952 mm in width and 1,499 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,000 mm, placing it in the mid-to-large sedan segment.
Its cabin is powered by Qualcomm's SA8775P chip and features a 10.25-inch instrument cluster, a 15.6-inch central display, a 50-inch panoramic augmented-reality head-up display and a 27-speaker Buick Sound audio system.
The driver-assistance system is based on the R6 reinforcement-learning foundation model from Chinese autonomous driving startup Momenta (HKEX: 6880), with the R7 version to be delivered later through an over-the-air update.
The entry-level version does not come with advanced driver-assistance functions, while the other 2 versions are equipped with 1 LiDAR, 3 millimeter-wave radars and 7 high-definition cameras.
The chassis features a road-preview "Magic Carpet" suspension system that Buick said can detect potholes, speed bumps and other road irregularities up to 20 meters ahead.
The Electra L7 BEV will compete directly with joint-venture electric sedans in China including Toyota's bZ7, as well as Chinese-brand models such as the Xiaomi (HKEX: 1810) SU7 and Luxeed S7.
The model is the latest product from SAIC-GM. On August 5, SAIC Motor (SSE: 600104) and GM signed an agreement extending the joint venture by 20 years through 2047.
The joint venture plans to launch at least 30 new energy vehicle (NEV) models by 2030. Its cumulative sales in the first 7 months of this year were 265,927 units, down 7.45% year-on-year.
