In a report, CLSA said the sharp share price movement was mainly driven by positive Phase III clinical trial results for Moderna (MRNA.US) 's mRNA cancer vaccine. Moderna's INTerpath-001 Phase III study, involving 1,137 high-risk melanoma patients, showed that its personalized mRNA cancer vaccine intismeran autogene combined with pembrolizumab achieved the primary and secondary endpoints of recurrence-free survival (RFS) and distant metastasis-free survival (DMFS), with no new safety signals identified. Moderna shares surged 177%. This marks the first positive Phase III clinical result for an mRNA cancer vaccine or individualized neoantigen therapy.

CLSA noted that as Moderna is conducting clinical studies using the same platform for lung cancer, kidney cancer and bladder cancer, the success represents a platform-level valuation re-rating. CANSINOBIO is positioned along the same technological pathway. Its rhabdomyosarcoma project is currently in the investigator-initiated trial (IIT) stage, while its glioma project is still awaiting pre-clinical approval. The group's development pathway and antigen design are broadly similar to Moderna's, with the main difference being its three-component lipid nanoparticle (LNP) system, which is safer than traditional formulations and may support a stronger cellular immune response.
