California has granted final approval for Charter Communications' $34.5 billion acquisition of Cox Communications, subject to conditions including $275M in network upgrades and consumer protections. With prior FCC and state approvals secured, the merger is expected to close next week, creating the largest U.S. cable provider surpassing Comcast. The combined entity will adopt the Cox brand name.
