Its Apache 2.0 license also allows developers to use the model for commercial projects. AMD claims that running the Muse Glimmer 30B model locally can reduce cloud costs while keeping data on the user's system.
Early testing shows Muse Glimmer 30B can deliver up to 24 tokens per second on an AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395 processor. Performance reaches up to 53 tokens per second on a single Radeon AI PRO R9700 graphics card when dFlash is enabled. AMD said these are preliminary results measured on Windows with llama.cpp, the Vulkan backend, and dFlash speculative decoding. It claimed that further software and model updates could improve performance.
Local operation also gives developers more control over data, which can be useful when agents interact with files and other private content. AMD is also working with LM Studio and Lemonade to make Muse Glimmer 30B easier to use. LM Studio lets users download and run the model locally on supported AMD systems with more than 32GB of memory. Lemonade provides an OpenAI-compatible local API that developers can embed into applications.
