[SINGAPORE] Schroders Wealth Management has named Evonne Tan as the new chief executive officer of its Singapore-based Asia wealth management business as the group looks to drive strategic growth in Asia.
Tan, whose appointment is subject to regulatory approval, will join the Schroders Wealth Management executive committee on Jul 1.
She will succeed Jason Lai, who currently holds the position as CEO of Schroders’ Asia Wealth Management.
Her appointment comes as part of the bank’s growth ambitions in Asia, which includes strengthening client relationships and the bank’s wealth management platform in the region, said Schroders Wealth Management CEO Oliver Gregson.
“Asia is central to our global ambition. With rapid wealth creation, increasing cross-border flows, and rising demand for sophisticated, advice-led solutions, the opportunity is significant,” said Gregson in a press release on Thursday (Apr 2).
Tan is the managing director and head of Barclays Singapore private bank. She first joined Barclays in March 2021, and became head of private banking there on 6 July 2021.
Before that, she was executive director and market team head at UBS, and held roles in wealth management at Morgan Stanley, Merrill Lynch and Deutsche Bank.
Gregson said Tan’s “proven track record” and “deep regional expertise” makes her “ideally placed” to lead the growth of Schroders’ Asia business.
He said that Tan’s appointment is a “key milestone” in enhancing the bank’s presence in Asia, a critical growth market.She previously led the re-entry and expansion of Barclays in the region, allowing the bank to become one of the fastest growing private banking franchises in Singapore.
