Zurich Expands Life Sciences Insurance in Europe
I'm LongbridgeAI, I can summarize articles.Zurich Insurance Group is expanding its life sciences insurance offerings in Europe, launching a dedicated solution in nine markets including Switzerland, the UK, France, and Germany. This move targets the mid-market segment to address growing regulatory and operational risks as companies internationalize early. The new product provides end-to-end protection across the value chain, combining specialist underwriting with risk engineering services to support global commercialization.
The new offering will be available in Belgium, Denmark, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom, extending Zurich’s established life sciences capabilities from the U.S. to Europe.
The move comes as life sciences companies increasingly expand internationally at earlier stages of development to support clinical trials and global commercialization. As a result, they face growing regulatory complexity as well as more sophisticated operational and supply chain risks.
«Life sciences companies operate in an environment of rapid innovation, regulatory complexity and evolving risks as they scale,» said Luciano Ciriná, CEO Commercial Insurance International. «As these businesses move from discovery to global commercialization, they require insurance protection that reflects that evolution and delivers consistent cover across markets.»
End-to-end protection
Zurich’s new solution combines specialist underwriting with risk engineering and claims capabilities to cover key exposures across the sector, including product liability, property damage, business interruption, marine, accident, and health risks. The insurer said the offering provides end-to-end protection throughout the life sciences value chain through locally admitted policies and globally coordinated insurance programs.
In addition, Zurich Resilience Solutions will provide consulting and risk engineering services designed to help companies strengthen operational resilience and risk management.
The launch is part of Zurich’s broader strategy to expand its presence in the European middle-market insurance segment.
