Context:

Last Friday, I noticed that S-REIT prices had declined and felt that the lower price presented an opportunity to add to my existing position. I was still positive about the longer-term investment thesis for S-REITs, particularly their potential to provide relatively stable distribution income and exposure to real estate assets. Rather than trying to time the exact bottom of the market, I viewed the price decline as an opportunity to gradually build my position through dollar-cost averaging (DCA).

My trade:

I added to my S-REIT position recently because I believed the lower price provided a more attractive entry point compared with my previous purchase price. I did not want to invest a large amount at once, so I added a smaller amount as part of my DCA approach. My main reason for adding was that I remained comfortable with the longer-term fundamentals of S-REITs and wanted to take advantage of the price weakness while continuing to build my exposure to the sector.

Takeaway:

Next time, I would set clearer price levels and position limits beforehand so that my DCA decisions are based on predefined criteria rather than simply buying because the price has fallen.
