$Lion-phillip S-Reit(CLR.SG)
Context:
I noticed that S-REIT prices had declined from my previous entry levels, and I viewed the lower prices as an opportunity to gradually build my position through dollar-cost averaging (DCA). My thinking was that, since my original investment thesis had not fundamentally changed, the price decline could allow me to increase my exposure at a more attractive average cost. I was still aware that the sector could remain sensitive to interest rates, financing costs and market sentiment, so I wanted to add gradually rather than invest a large amount at once.
My trade:
I added to my existing S-REIT position because the lower price gave me an opportunity to DCA and reduce my average entry price. I did not want to commit too much capital in a single purchase, so I made a smaller additional investment while maintaining my longer-term view on the sector. My main reason for adding was that I still believed in the potential for recurring distribution income and longer-term capital appreciation, while the price decline provided an opportunity to build the position at a lower valuation.
Takeaway:
Next time, I would set clearer DCA levels and position limits beforehand so that I add based on a defined plan rather than simply buying because the price has fallen.
