Recent epiphany (not sure if correct): Trading is like being a middleman arbitraging price gaps. Buy quality stocks at deep discounts, sell when prices recover – simple as that. What's needed is capital, patience, courage, and some ability to judge highs/lows.
Just like property flippers: If the upside potential is big enough, buy low/sell high; if already at peak with uncertain upside, why take the risk? The difference is property flippers can wait months or years, while we stock traders get antsy after one hour. Instant feedback is too intense.
By this logic, most time is spent waiting... pretty boring.
