1\. In your investment portfolio, never take on the same risk as your primary source of income.

2\. A specific need must be funded by a specific asset dedicated to meeting that need.

3\. I recommend that when investors build their portfolios, they should use broad-based total stock market index funds instead of selecting individual stocks. I give this advice for two reasons.

4\. Science fiction writer Theodore Sturgeon created Sturgeon's Law, which states: "95% of everything you hear or read is useless crap."

5\. Annual income twenty pounds, annual expenditure nineteen nineteen and six, result happiness;  
Annual income twenty pounds, annual expenditure twenty pounds ought and six, result misery.
