Dow Jones hits all-time closing high! Tech giants surge across the board, Chinese concepts see 6th consecutive day of gains
🔥 US stocks surged overnight: Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 693 points (+1.32%) to 53,178.41, setting a new all-time closing record; S&P 500 gained 1.48% to 7,600.50, just about 0.3% away from its early June all-time high; Nasdaq rose 2.13% by 259 points.
📈 Tech giants surge across the board: Meta up 6.02%, Microsoft up 4.93% (accumulated gain of approx. 25% over the past three days), Amazon up 4.58% (market cap breaks $3 trillion for the first time), Google up 4.44% (market cap surpasses Apple to rank second globally), NVIDIA up 2.93% (market cap stands above $5 billion again). Apple fell 1.78% against the trend, becoming the only one among the "Magnificent Seven" to decline.
💾 Memory chips rebound strongly: SanDisk surges over 6%, Micron rises 0.79%. The Philadelphia Semiconductor Index opened low and closed high, ending previous consecutive days of declines.
🇨🇳 Chinese concepts see 6th consecutive day of gains: Nasdaq China Golden Dragon Index rose 0.75%, rising for the 6th consecutive day, hitting a 1-month high. Alibaba rose over 4%, Kingsoft Cloud rose over 6%, while Li Auto and XPeng fell over 3-4%.
🇭🇰 HK stocks opened higher this morning: Hang Seng Index opened up 0.31%, HSTECH Index opened up 0.3%. Alibaba rose 1.28% (already surged 7% yesterday), WuXi AppTec surged nearly 10% (interim report fully exceeded expectations).
Oil prices plummeted 7%, easing US-Iran tensions boosted risk appetite. Fed's probability of a September rate hike is 66.5%
