The biggest mistake I made was: buying a 2x leveraged long ETF with a long-term holding mindset, thinking that if the underlying stock returned to its highs, the ETF would also return to its peak... I originally intended to hold it for two or three years, until one day I saw that the underlying stock hadn't even reached its lowest point yet, but the ETF was already 30% lower than its previous low. I was completely stunned.
