# Breaking News! OpenAI suddenly stops supporting national APIs, effective July 9th

On the early morning of June 25th, some developers received a letter from OpenAI, stating, "According to the data, your organization has API traffic from regions not currently supported by OpenAI. Starting from July 9th, additional measures will be taken to stop API usage from countries and regions not on the list supported by OpenAI."

However, this netizen mentioned that he only uses it in two places, the United States and Dnipro in Ukraine, both of which are on the whitelist, yet he was unreasonably banned.

When he tried to contact OpenAI's customer service, he received a reply from an AI saying, "Sorry, we do not operate in your region."

Not only him, but developers in Spain and Switzerland also face restrictions on using the API. However, according to the list, these two countries are supported.

A SaaS company was not spared either because when they provide services, users from countries and regions banned by OpenAI may access their API. Therefore, even this company was blocked, which is indeed quite innocent.

Some pointed out that the reason for this situation may be related to the expansion of internet censorship, and the AI automatic detection may have encountered issues.

Alternatively, OpenAI may have faced some policy pressure, leading to strict enforcement of bans. So, if you receive this letter, you will basically be banned from using the API
