# Once again called out by Musk for "overstaffing," how many people does the Federal Reserve have?

According to a 整理 by X netizens, the Federal Reserve has approximately 24,500 employees.

A recent report from the Mises Institute pointed out that about 23,000 people work at the Federal Reserve Board in Washington and the 12 regional Federal Reserve Banks in the United States.

"But it goes far beyond that. Financial statements show that the Federal Reserve Board's expenses and monetary costs amount to $2 billion. If this includes salaries, then the total salary and pension costs for the Federal Reserve will be close to $7 billion. Dividing this number by 23,000 people, each employee costs about $304,000," said Mises.
