# Trump is about to take office, and major American companies like Meta, Amazon, and McDonald's are terminating or reducing their diversification projects

On January 10 local time, Meta announced in an internal memo to employees that it would terminate its diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs, which involve processes such as recruitment, training, and vendor selection. The company's Chief Diversity Officer, Maxine Williams, will be reassigned to a new position. The company stated, "The legal and policy environment surrounding DEI work in the U.S. is changing." On the same day, Amazon confirmed that it is halting some diversity programs as part of a review of hundreds of company initiatives. Earlier this week, McDonald's announced it would cancel diversity targets set for employees and suppliers. In addition, major U.S. companies such as Walmart, Ford Motor Company, and U.S. grocery retailer Tractor Supply have recently retracted their DEI commitments
