# Hong Kong Stock Midday Review: Chip stocks surged in the morning, with SMIC rising 10%

According to Jinshi Data on January 17, Hong Kong stocks opened lower but rose during the morning session, with the Hang Seng Index closing up 0.17% at 19,556.82 points; the Tech Index rose 1.26% to 4,473.03 points. On the market, chip stocks surged in the morning, Tencent concept stocks rose, while movie concept stocks fell. In terms of individual stocks, Weimob Group (02013.HK) rose over 12%, Hua Hong Semiconductor (01347.HK) rose over 8%, Kingsoft (03888.HK) and JD.com (09618.HK) rose over 4%; Vanke Enterprise (02202.HK) fell over 6%, NetEase (09999.HK) fell 2.7%, and Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (01398.HK) fell over 2%.
