# European Commission Trade Commissioner: U.S. tariffs may lead to a 7% decline in global GDP

On February 27th local time, EU Commissioner for Trade Valdis Dombrovskis cited data from the International Monetary Fund in a media interview, stating that the new tariff policy in the United States could lead to a 7% decline in global GDP in the medium term, which is equivalent to the combined GDP of France and Germany.
