U.S. futures for the S&P 500 were up 0.3% and futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average climbed 0.1%. Changes in futures do not necessarily predict movements after the opening bell.

In Europe, the Stoxx Europe 600 fell 0.7% in morning trading. Elia Group added 16.7% and Universal Music Group rose 5.2%. On the other hand, SFS Group dropped 4.5%, and Financiere Richemont sunk 4.4%. The FTSE 100 lost 0.5%. Other stocks in Europe were down as France's CAC 40 declined 0.8% and Germany's DAX dropped 1.2%.

The Wall Street Journal Dollar Index dropped 0.3% to 99.17.

In commodities, Brent crude rose 0.9% to $70.07 a barrel, and WTI crude gained 0.9% to $66.94 a barrel. The European benchmark price for natural gas, the Dutch futures contract TTF, was down 2.4% to 37.33 euros a megawatt hour.

The German 10-year Bund yield was flat at 2.839%, and the yield on the 10-year U.S. Treasury declined by 1 basis point to 4.27% from 4.276%. Bond prices and yields move in opposite directions.

Stocks in Asia were down as Japan's Nikkei 225 index declined 2.2%, and Hong Kong's Hang Seng declined 0.6%. China's benchmark Shanghai Composite fell 0.3%.
