# It is reported that Apple is seeking to conduct trial production of a foldable iPhone

According to the Zhitong Finance APP, Apple (AAPL.US) is reportedly considering trial production of a foldable iPhone. It has been reported that the company has held discussions with several suppliers in Taiwan, China. Insiders say that if testing goes smoothly, the tech giant and its manufacturing partners may begin mass production of the foldable iPhone in India sometime in 2026.

Tianfeng International Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo recently stated that the foldable iPhone will use ultra-thin glass. Ultra-thin glass is "very sensitive to edge cracks, particles, and stress," making it more difficult to manufacture than traditional smartphone glass, and it is also more expensive, potentially costing two to four times more than traditional glass.

Despite some related issues, Apple seems confident about the sales prospects of the foldable iPhone. Kuo added that the company recently raised its shipment forecast for the device in 2026 from the previous 6 million to 8 million units to 8 million to 10 million units. Additionally, the company currently expects shipments in 2027 to be between 20 million and 25 million units, up from the previous forecast of 10 million to 15 million units.

Some analysts indicate that the iPhone Air product launched this year is laying the groundwork for the next generation of foldable iPhones, which is expected to be released in 2026
