But when it comes time to sell or trade in, their value can drop far faster than expected, leaving owners with a painful financial hit. Depreciation is one of the biggest hidden costs of car ownership, and certain models lose value at an alarming rate, sometimes far more quickly than competitors in the same class. High sticker prices, limited demand on the used market, and high maintenance or repair costs can all accelerate the slide. Luxury sedans, high-performance vehicles, and some niche models are often the worst offenders, but even a few mainstream cars can surprise you with how quickly they shed dollars. If you’re thinking of buying new, understanding which vehicles depreciate fastest can help you avoid an expensive mistake. Here are the cars most likely to drain your wallet over the next few years. In order to give you the most up-to-date and accurate information possible, the data used to compile this article was sourced from various manufacturer websites and other authoritative sources, including J.D. Power, RepairPal, and the EPA. Depreication data was pulled from CarEdge. **Models are ranked based on depreciation over five years, assuming they are driven 13,500 miles a year, from slowest to quickest.** ## 2025 Alfa Romeo Tonale ### Residual Value After Five Years: 33.4% Alfa Romeo Alfa Romeo's smallest crossover is the Tonale, a sleek, good-looking SUV that comes with either a gas-only or hybrid powertrain. Alfa's reputation might not be the best right now, but we genuinely think that Tonale is one of the most enjoyable crossovers from a driving perspective. ### Alfa Romeo Tonale Deprecitation The Tonale's value goes into free fall and stays there for the first three years after you buy it, only flattening out after that point. This is in no small part thanks to Alfa Romeo's poor reputation within the United States. Over ten years, the Tonale would have only retained around 20 percent of its original value. ## 2025 Alfa Romeo Stelvio ### Residual Value After Five Years: 33.4% Alfa Romeo Alfa Romeo brings the same gorgeous styling over to the mid-size Stelvio. It offers much more space on the inside, though cargo space is still low compared to its competitors. It's very engaging to drive, but there are still hints of cost-cutting parts within the cabin. We're also sad that the high-octane Quadrifoglio has been discontinued. ### Alfa Romeo Stelvio Depreciation Alfa's reputation continues to work against it with the Stelvio. Poor reliability and high maintenance costs means that they don't do particularly well on the used market. The first three years are the worst for depreciation. After ten years, it would have only retained around 20 percent of its value. ## 2025 Alfa Romeo Giulia ### Residual Value After Five Years: 33.3% Alfa Romeo It's a shame that the Giulia makes this list, because it's one of our favorite sports sedans. Its stunning good looks and its exceptional performance make it a really appealing option, even compared to more traditional sedans like the BMW 3-Series. The Giulia just has a ton of character. ### Alfa Romeo Giulia Depreciation The Giulia's fantastic design and performance aren't enough to keep depreciation at bay. The Giulia has a steeper fall in its first two years, evening out at year three. Over the long term, the Giulia does do a little better than its stablemates, with it retaining 23 percent of its value after ten years. ## 2024 Jaguar I-Pace ### Residual Value After Five Years: 33.1% Jaguar The I-Pace comes before Jaguar's dramatic rebranding, with it being the British automaker's first dive into the world of electric vehicles. Whilst it wasn't bad, particularly for a first go, it came with an absurdly high starting price and its range and estimated charging rates were lower than the competition. It was discontinued at the end of last year. ### Jaguar I-Pace Depreciation The I-Pace suffers from a combination of things. It is a Jaguar, which works against it on the used market, and it is an EV. Its rate of depreciation is pretty linear, meaning that it falls at a rapid but steady rate over time. After tens years of owning an I-Pace, it would have retained 24 percent of its value. ## 2026 Infiniti QX80 ### Residual Value After Five Years: 30.7% Infiniti Infinti has been in a bad spot for a while, feeling a bit stagnated against a sea of new and exciting competition. However, the brand-new QX80 could be a turning point. It may not be the best value for money, but it looks great, offers a ton of space, and comes equipped with some very plush equipment. ### Infiniti QX80 Depreciation The above data should be taken with a grain of salt (a small one). The new QX80 definitely has the potential to change people's perception, and it could end up holding its value a little better. However, if the data above is accurate, your QX80 could be worth only 18.5 percent of its original value after ten years. ## 2024 Maserati Quattroporte ### Residual Value After Five Years: 30.1% Maserati Maserati has always been the black sheep of the bunch when it comes to Italian sports car manufacturers. The Quattroporte is a sporting sedan that simply went on too long without any major updates. The 2024 model year was its last, but it is set to make a return some time in the future. ### Maserati Quattroporte Depreciation Unfortunately, despite being a high-performance supersedan that costs well over the six-figure mark to start, the Quattroporte just isn't all that desirable used. Value takes a nose dive immediately, and you can pick up slightly used models for a fraction of their MSRP. After ten years, the Maserati is only worth around 13.6 percent of its original value. ## 2026 Tesla Model S ### Residual Value After Five Years: 29.3% Tesla Tesla are the kings of over-promising and under delivering. The Model S is a pretty good example. At its core, it's a pretty great electric sports sedan. However, it has been a long time since it's been the best in its class. It isn't as luxurious as its price tag suggests, its self-driving system is outdated, and the new yoke steering wheel is just silly. ### Tesla Model S Depreciation The Model S has never been a particularly popular model on the used market, with people rather opting for the similarly styled Model 3. On top of this, Telsa has had a pretty turbulent last couple of years, with public opinion taking a nose dive. After ten years, your Model S will be worth about 17.3 percent of what you paid for it. ## 2025 Maserati Grecale ### Residual Value After Five Years: 25.9% Maserati Maserati hasn't quite gotten the notice that their brand name doesn't carry the clout that it once did. Despite being one of the most expensive luxury compact SUVs, the Grecale is slightly unrefined and doesn't offer anything special. It is sporty and comfortable, there are just much better options for the money. ### Maserati Grecale Depreciation Maserati's badge essentially works against the Grecale on the used market. It offers better value for money than the Quattroporte but depreciates more. While it has its issues, it might be worth looking at a used model if you're looking for high-end luxury on a budget. It'll be worth 15.6 percent of its original value after ten years. ## 2024 Maserati Levante ### Residual Value After Five Years: 25.9% Maserati The Levante is essentially the SUV version of the Quattroporte. It was outdated and overpriced. Despite having a starting price of over six figures, it featured an old and unrefined cabin with obvious downmarket parts taken from the greater Stellantis network. It was discontinued at the end of last year. ### Maserati Levante Depreciation The Levante follows the same trend of depreciation as the Grecale. Crossovers may be much more popular than sedans, but the Levante does worse than the Quattroporte on the used market. Just like the Levante, after ten years it'll be worth around 15.6 percent of its original value. ## 2025 Land Rover Range Rover ### Residual Value After Five Years: 24.4% Land Rover If you're looking for a large, high-end SUV, the Range Rover is actually one of the better models on the market right now. Its interior is downright opulent and offers plenty of space for passengers and cargo, there are a ton of great powertrains on offer, plenty of tech, and it delivers real off-road capability. ### Range Rover Depreciation Unfortunately, the Range Rover doesn't have a particularly good reputation for reliability, as is the case for any Jaguar Land Rover product. It is also an exceptionally expensive vehicle to own. However, if you can handle the maintenance costs, it might just be a used bargain after a couple of years. It'll only be worth 11.8 percent of its value in ten years time. ### 相关股票 - [Cars.com (CARS.US)](https://longbridge.com/zh-CN/quote/CARS.US.md) ## 相关资讯与研究 - [Jenell Ross Purchases 1,995 Shares of Cars.com (NYSE:CARS) Stock](https://longbridge.com/zh-CN/news/279334128.md) - [Here's How Much $100 Invested In abrdn Physical Silver Shares ETF 10 Years Ago Would Be Worth Today](https://longbridge.com/zh-CN/news/281394387.md) - [BREAKINGVIEWS-SpaceX IPO will gauge market moxie more than depth](https://longbridge.com/zh-CN/news/281406751.md) - [Palantir vs. Oracle: 1 AI Stock Looks Cheap](https://longbridge.com/zh-CN/news/281400403.md) - [BUZZ-Rosenblatt says finding partner for Snap's smart glasses unit tough](https://longbridge.com/zh-CN/news/281357569.md)
