# Jeff Bezos' ex-wife, billionaire MacKenzie Scott, reduces her stake in Amazon by 42%

According to a media report citing a regulatory document on Tuesday, billionaire philanthropist MacKenzie Scott has reduced her stake in Amazon by 42% since last year.

As of the latest disclosure on September 30, Scott, the ex-wife of Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, holds 81.1 million shares of the company, down from 58 million shares a year ago.

Based on Amazon's closing price on Tuesday, the reduction is valued at $12.55 billion. A regulatory document filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission in Bezos's name shows that as of September 30, he actually owns more than 964 million shares of Amazon stock, including the 81.1 million shares over which Bezos exercises sole voting rights. As part of their divorce settlement in 2019, Scott received 4% of Amazon shares valued at $36 billion from Bezos.

According to her YieldGiving website, she has donated over $19.25 billion to more than 2,450 nonprofit organizations
