# Former Alibaba Group Vice President Liu Peng joins Walmart China as President of Sam's Club

According to Times Finance, on October 27th, Walmart China announced the appointment of Liu Peng as the President of Sam's Club, reporting directly to Walmart China President and CEO Zhou Xiaojing. Jane Ewing, the acting President of Sam's Club, will conclude her expatriate term and acting responsibilities as scheduled at the end of this year and return to Walmart International. Walmart China stated that this is another important measure for Walmart to continue increasing its investment in China and achieve business strategic upgrades. Liu Peng joined Alibaba Group in 2015 and has held various positions including General Manager of Tmall Global, President of Tmall Import and Export Business, Vice President of Alibaba Group and President of B2C Retail Business Group, and President of Taotian Group Brand Business Development Center. Walmart China indicated that currently, Sam's Club has opened nearly 60 stores in more than 30 cities, and approximately five new stores are expected to open by the end of this year.
