# Microsoft invests billions to partner with Lambda for thousands of NVIDIA GPUs to ramp up the AI arms race

According to the Zhitong Finance APP, artificial intelligence startup Lambda announced a multi-billion dollar agreement with Microsoft (MSFT.US) on Monday, in which both parties will collaborate to enhance the infrastructure needed for the AI boom and deploy computing resources powered by NVIDIA (NVDA.US) GPUs.

Lambda stated in a press release that as part of the agreement, Microsoft will deploy "tens of thousands" of NVIDIA GPUs, including its latest GB300 NVL72 system. Lambda is one of several emerging cloud service providers that have entered the AI field in recent years, along with others such as Nebius (NBIS.US) and CoreWeave (CRWV.US).

Lambda CEO Stephen Balaban stated in the press release, "We are excited to see the teams at Microsoft and Lambda working together to deploy these large AI supercomputers. Our partnership with Microsoft has lasted over eight years, and this is an extraordinary step in our relationship."
